The milking parlour is our office and we spend many hours each day in it. We built a parlour which was large enough and comfortable enough for us to milk our herd. We installed a 20 point Alfa Laval Agri parlour with ten cows standing up each side. The cows are fed a concentrate while being milked and hopefully this keeps them happy. This is fed by a digital feeder which we control in the parlour and can adjust the quantity that each cow receives in relation to the stage of her lactation . We attach the units onto the cows teats and the ACR (automatic cluster removers) then detaches the unit when the cow has finished milking. The milk is pumped automatically to the stainless steel milk bulk storage tanks in our dairy where it is cooled and collected by the milk tanker each day.
