When the cows either enter the milking herd for the first time as heifers or are already cows, in the winter they are housed in this building. They are very content and enjoy having the freedom to roam around and eat whenever it suits them. We milk our cows twice each day and this shed is also scraped out twice each day when the cows are being milked. The manure that the cows produce is a very important source of natural fertiliser on the farm
